ABOUT ME

Sarah Zappia, Social Worker &

Passionate Neurodivergence Therapist

Sarah founded Making Strides Allied Health after returning to work from maternity leave in 2023. Prior to this, she worked at Autism SA for 6 years where she harnessed her skills and passion for working with autistic children and young people. With a vision to create her own private practice that would blend her skills as a therapist for neurodivergent youth, and a qualified social worker, she created Making Strides.

When not at work, Sarah values time spent with her husband and two boys, as well as family and friends. She believes strongly in the importance of self-care, and as a parent herself, understands this is not always possible! This is why she also values the role she gets to play in supporting parents and caregivers also.

OUR APPROACH

What makes us different

Sarah's therapeutic interventions extend beyond individual sessions to address systemic factors that may impact the individual's well-being and development. Through collaboration with families, educators, and other stakeholders, Sarah strives to create a supportive and nurturing environment conducive to positive outcomes for neurodivergent youth.

Making Strides Allied Health acknowledges and honours the Kaurna people of the Adelaide Plains and their land on which we work and connect. We pay respects to the Elders, past, present and emerging. We recognise and respect their relationship with the land and the continuation of cultural, spiritual and educational practices of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

We celebrate diversity in all its forms. We believe that inclusivity strengthens communities, fuels innovation, and creates a more compassionate world. Our commitment is to cultivate an environment where everyone—regardless of background, identity, or experience—feels valued, respected, and empowered.

We actively welcome different perspectives and strive to create a space that reflects the richness of the world around us. By embracing diversity, we build stronger connections, break down barriers, and open doors to new opportunities.

Together, we thrive.
